Acadia Divinity College
Whereas both schools share a common evangelical Christian faith and are united in their desire to produce servant leaders equipped to provide leadership in local churches and other important Christian ministries, this agreement will serve as a basis to provide Taylor College graduates with the possibility of achieving advanced standing in the Acadia University Bachelor of Theology program.
This MoU shall be in place for a period of three years, commencing July 1, 2009. After two years a review shall be initiated by Acadia Divinity College and upon mutual agreement, the MoU shall be renewed, amended, or cancelled as appropriate.
Acadia Divinity College (ADC) agrees:
- To accept into the Bachelor of Theology program any graduate of Taylor College who is over 35 years of age, has earned an average cumulative grade of 70%, is recommended by the Taylor College Director of Formation, and who meets the other entrance requirements of ADC.
- Graduates of the three-year Diploma in Evangelism Studies are granted approximately 1 ½ years of transfer credit.
- Graduates of the one-year Certificate in Evangelism may be granted up to ½ year of transfer credit on an individual basis.
- Graduates of the former Threshold Ministries Training College may be granted up to 1 year of transfer credit on an individual basis.
- To invite someone from the staff of Taylor annually (and possibly students as well) to visit ADC and take part in the life of the college, including providing leadership in chapel.
Taylor College agrees:
- To make the possibility of transfer known to past, potential, and current Taylor College students through a variety of means including posting the following on the College website and in the College catalogue:
“Advanced Standing at Acadia University: Taylor College maintains a transfer agreement with Acadia Divinity College (ACD), providing an opportunity for Taylor College graduates to apply their Taylor College studies toward a university degree in theology. ADC is an evangelical school of theology located on the campus of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Graduates of Taylor College who have completed the three-year Diploma in Evangelism Studies can receive approximately one and a half years of credit toward the three-year Acadia University Bachelor of Theology degree provided they are over the age of 35, achieve an average grade of 70%, are recommended by the Director of Formation and who meet the other standard admission requirements of ADC. In many denominations the Bachelor of Theology is the standard requirement for ordination for those over the age of 35.
Taylor College graduates who complete the Bachelor of Theology at Acadia are eligible for admission to the Acadia Master of Arts (Theology) and Master of Divinity degrees.
Taylor College students interested in pursuing study at Acadia should contact the ACD registrar’s office at (902) 585-2215 or Lorraine.higgins@acadiau.ca. - Invite someone from ADC to the College at least annually to meet with students to discuss the possibility of transfer.
- Explore possibilities for ADC faculty to lecture, teach, or speak on campus periodically in order for Taylor College students to become more familiar with ADC faculty.
